August 2019 Presidents Report

Hi Members

Renewal
We would greatly appreciate if your Chamber membership is renewed before 31st August 2019. Beyond this date your membership will cease and your free alliance benefits with NSWBC will also stop. We value your support and gives us a strong voice to represent issues that affect the community which has a flow on effect to the business community.  Please feel free to discuss your membership with us.

Members Only Events
Chamber recently held a members only event with newly elected Member for Murray Helen Dalton. As always Helen 'told it how it was'. We are very fortunate to have a member who is so passionate and determined to stand up and fight for our community.

Upcoming Member Events
In today's modern world, technology plays an important part....from social media, websites, google ad words and more! It can be daunting and The Chamber are looking at many options to bring educational workshops and/or webinars to our members - such as collaborating with The BEC Business Advice to bring you a workshop GRIFFITH ONLINE.

Other avenues we are trying to secure is the popular Bricks and Clicks Digital Roadshow by celebrity David Koch as well as other digital presentations presented by his brand Kochies Business Builders.

We are also investigating the availability of Social Researcher and Futurist Bernard Salt. Bernard recently named Griffith as NSW's best country-town lifestyle. This will be a major event for the business community to share and learn from his insights about the future success of Griffith.

The Grow Our Own  initiative is all about retaining local talent by showcasing our local businesses within the region. With a large range of career opportunities available to remain in Griffith, Grow Our Own promotes learning and earning without relocating to receive an education.
The SISP program encompasses STEM subjects – (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with Industry School Partnerships. This has already proven successful in other regions of NSW and is currently focused on Agri-Tech here in Griffith. Providing and educating students about STEM Careers available in Griffith that align with the curriculum to give students a view into the real world practices outside the classroom, and Industry a look into their future talent pool.
Did you know? That 65% of students will be going into a job THAT DOES NOT EXIST YET?! The program aims to prepare students for future employment with local businesses. Chamber will be hosting a special event in the near future to encourage industries to get on board and support this program and you never know....there might be the next future tech wiz out there that is waiting for a job with you!
